The Helsinki table was named so as the design is influenced by the classic trumpet base table by the prize-winning Scandinavian designer Eero Saarinen. This table also has a new under chamfered edge profile that was a feature of Saarinen's original table.
The top is fashioned from beautiful and hard wearing stone which is available in a choice of finishes and sizes, or alternatively you might prefer the timeless look of glass. The classically influenced stone top contrasts with the sleek and sturdy brushed steel base to create an elegant yet thoroughly modern design.
The table shown has a 110cm diameter Sardo Grey granite top. The Helsinki is also available with Carrara White marble, Nero Bon Accord granite, Zimbabwe Black granite, Emerald Black granite and glass tops.
The marbles and granites used for these tables are around 200 to 300 million years old, and are quarried in Italy and south Africa respectively. Due to the way these materials form there may be small pinholes (voids originally full of gas or moisture) on the surface. There may also be venting, which looks like a crack but is under the surface and does not start or end at the edge of the top. The makers of these tables carefully select the marble and granite they use, and these are natural features which add to the look of this material and do not effect performance.
