Question from Ellie: Asked on 02/04/2026 Could this cut down to fit 1940mm height?
Hi, The Suffolk Essential XL Joinery Internal Oak Cottage Door (1981 x 762 x 35mm) can be trimmed, but only within the manufacturer’s recommended allowance of around 30mm in total height (15mm from the top and 15mm from the bottom). As your required finished height is 1940mm, this would mean removing 41mm, which exceeds the advised limit and is not recommended as it could compromise the door’s structure and finish and may affect the warranty.
Thank you.
Question from Ken: Asked on 04/03/2026 Can the doors but cut smaller to fit. Like reduced to 1970 from 1981
Hi Ken,Yes, the internal oak door can be trimmed to fit; reducing the height from 1981?mm to 1970?mm is easily achievable. It’s best to cut from the bottom, use a fine-tooth saw suitable for hardwood, and then sand and seal the cut edge to protect the oak. This small adjustment won’t affect the door’s strength or stability. Thanks!
Hi, Yes, this door can be trimmed to fit your opening. The maximum trimming allowance is 15mm at the top, 15mm at the bottom, and 15mm per side. Reducing the height from 1981mm to 1970mm is well within the safe trimming limits, so the door will remain structurally sound and ready for installation.
Thank you.
Question from Ryan: Asked on 03/02/2026 How heavy are the doors what hinges are best
Hi Ryan,That door weighs roughly 30–34 kg, so it should be hung on three 3-inch (76 mm) heavy-duty butt hinges, ideally ball-bearing hinges, to properly support the weight and prevent sagging over time. Thanks!
Question from Cristina: Asked on 15/12/2025 Is this door FD30-rated?
Hi,The 1981?×?762?×?35?mm Suffolk Essential internal oak door is not FD30-rated; only the thicker 44?mm version, sold as the FD30 model, is certified as a fire door (EOSUF30-FD).Thanks!
Question from Tomasz: Asked on 12/12/2025 Internal Oak Cottage Door - Unfinished - 1981 x 762 x 35mm - Suffolk Essential - XL Joinery
Which hardwood is used on lippinng and grooves. Thanks
Hi,The lippings and grooves on the XL Joinery Suffolk Essential unfinished oak internal door are made from solid oak hardwood, matching the oak-veneered faces to ensure a consistent appearance and durable finish. Thanks!
Question from Pete: Asked on 19/11/2025 what does finished and unfinished doors mean?
What has to be done more to unfinished doors?
Hi Pete, finished doors arrive ready to use with paint, stain, or varnish already applied. Unfinished doors come bare, so you will need to sand, seal, and apply your chosen finish (paint, stain, or varnish) before installation to protect the wood and achieve the desired look. Thank you.
